Do you sell a product as part of an evergreen funnel or perhaps you have a physical product that is always available? If you are using Facebook Ads as part of your marketing strategy to sell that product, here is a quick tip to get better results with the performance of your ad.

Ask past purchasers to leave a testimonial on the ad. To do this, you will need to identify the best performing ad that has perfect messaging on it so you can continue to use it long-term. Then give the link to the ad to past purchasers and ask them to click through and leave a quick testimonial in the comments.

In addition, if you have video testimonials or screenshots of testimonials for that product you could place a comment on the ad yourself with those details as well. Just ensure it is obvious that the testimonial is legitimate.

If someone is interested in your product, they will notice all the comments on your ad so will be curious to read through them. Seeing testimonials from real people will build social proof and boost your conversions on that ad. In addition, Facebook rewards engagement on your ads so this is a perfect way to do this.

Many times I have had a discussion with a small business owner and my heart breaks for them. I have seen this problem occur over and over again and it is easily avoided with a little bit of knowledge.

If you’ve been following me for a while you would have heard me talk about this before but I feel a pull to write about it again today as I have just gotten off a call with another business owner that this has happened to.

If I can help just one business owners each time I talk about it then it’s been worth my time.

The problem is a loss of SEO rankings on your website when changes are made to pages or the back-end structure or a re-design on the website. This loss in ranking normally then results in a loss of website visitors and ultimately a loss in sales or leads.

So please, to avoid this happening to you, if are employing someone to do any changes ensure they know the effects of the changes on SEO.

Safeguards you can take as a business owner is ensure you have a backup of your website prior to the changes so that you can refer to a previous version if necessary.

Take a report from your Google Search Console of all the pages that are currently ranking in Google search results.

Then once the changes are published keep a close eye on your Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Has traffic to your website dropped significantly? Has your Google rankings dropped? If so, you need to determine why and fix it as soon as possible.

However if you have someone overseeing the changes that has this knowledge they can prevent this from happening in the first place but as a business owner it is imperative you have at least some knowledge of what is being done so that you can troubleshoot if the unthinkable does occur.

Love them or hate them, as marketers we can't ignore the fact that they work to build you email database and grow your leads..

But when deciding whether to put a pop-up on your website there are a few things you need to consider when it comes to user experience:

✅ Either have the pop-up set as a delay or have it show only when someone is exiting the page.

✅ Check you pop-up display on mobile devices. Most pop-ups don't work well on mobile devices so you need to check the functionality.

✅ Ensure the pop-up only shows once. If someone closes the pop-up you don't want it to continue to show to them.

✅ Don't have pop-ups on landing pages where you are sending Facebook Ads to. Facebook doesn't like you to have pop-ups showing on those pages.

✅ Don't have pop-ups on sales pages or landing pages unless it is an exit only pop-up.

As with everyone we do in marketing, user experience should be always top of mind.

The secret to optimising and improving any areas of your marketing is by looking at what the data and your audience is telling you, whether that is directly or indirectly.

And the best way to optimise your website, landing pages and sales pages is to watch what people do when they land on any particular page. Hotjar is a free tool that you can install on your website to do exactly that and watch how users behave once they land on your website.

With Hotjar, you can watch how people move their mouse, where they click, and even see how far they scroll on your website. It’s like having magic glasses that show you what everyone is doing on your website.

This helps you figure out if there’s a part of the page where people get confused or leave without taking the next step. Maybe they don’t know the next step, or something isn’t working correctly, they can’t find where to pay or something just isn’t clear enough. By knowing this, you can make things better and easier for them and therefore improve the conversion rates on your pages.

So, using Hotjar is like having secret powers to understand what people like and don’t like about your website. This way, you can make changes based on direct feedback from your website visitors.

When I do this research for my business or my clients, I leave it installed for around 30 days and then remove it. I then re-install to check data again in a couple of months time. I don’t leave it installed on the website all of the time as it will slow down your website speed. And a slow website isn’t good for user experience or search engine optimisation.

One small change can make a big difference but in order to make the right change you need to know what to change..

These are 3 examples of what I have achieved just this week with clients.

1️⃣ Changed the headline on a webinar optin landing page. Result - the conversion rate went from 28% to 61% which means lower cost per lead on the ads and more leads to ultimately promote the offer too.

2️⃣ Changed the description of a downloadable lead magnet on the landing page and in the ads. Result - the conversion rate on the landing page went from 23% to 54% and the cost per lead on the ads went from $6 to $2.

3️⃣ Changed the headline and the introductory text on a sales landing page for a course. Result - conversion rate went from 0.2% to 3%. Result - more sales with nothing else changed 👏👏👏

In order to make the changes that will make a difference firstly you need to know your stats and identify where there is room for improvement. However just a side note that the refinement is never complete, there is always room for improvement!

Secondly, you need to know where the disconnect is with your messaging and change it.

Over the past few months, I have been refining a process with my clients on how to get dialled in with their messaging to ensure the words they write, whether it is on a landing page, in ads, on social media or anywhere else, is speaking directly to their ideal client.
