Just because a business coach or mentor advised you to Facebook™ ads to a lead magnet to fill a masterclass, doesn’t mean that it is the best option. Sometimes that extra step helps. But in most cases, I have found that when you calculate the actual cost per masterclass registration, the cost is a lot higher than running ads directly to the masterclass registration page.

The smarter way to decide is to look at intent and outcomes and the actual cost per masterclass registration. Who shows up. Who buys. What each type of lead really costs you by the time the launch is over. When you look at it that way, the path usually becomes much clearer.

Sometimes the funnel is not working because the tech is wrong or the copy is off. Other times, it is because you are trying to force an offer into a decision journey that does not match how your clients think.

That is why I always come back to price point, audience awareness and the level of touch your best buyers need. Once those pieces are clear, the “right” funnel becomes much easier to spot and scale.

I get it, it can be so overwhelming!

You hear stories about other businesses getting great results with their ads.

They tell you what they are doing but it doesn’t seem to work for you.

Perhaps you took a course to learn how to run ads, but you can’t duplicate the same results for you business.

Please know you are not doomed.

Facebook doesn’t hate you.

You just need to work out what works for you.

I have been managing ad campaigns for 6 & 7 figure business owners for over 13 years and what works in one account doesn’t always work in another account.

You need to know how to test (and quickly) so you don’t waste money and you can start to see results from the money you are spending.

The only 2 things you need to test are:

1️⃣ Your creative.

It isn’t whether images or videos work best. Test both and test different options.

Learn what works best for you and your audience.

In some accounts I manage images work best, in others it is videos.

You need to test and continue to test as what works this week may change next week.

2️⃣ Your messaging.

The words you use in your ads are so important.

You need to use different frameworks, different hooks and different angles to determine what works best with the offer you are promoting in your ads.

Once again, what works 1 week can change the next so always have different options you are testing.

Your words will attract your ideal clients plus they also help Facebook determine who your ads get shown to.

So your words need to be clear and specific and be clear about who your offer is for.

Some offers need a conversation. Some need a strong webinar with urgency.

Some are much easier to sell when you let a low ticket offer do the first round of filtering. Others work best when you play the long game with a solid lead magnet and nurture sequence.

If you have a lead magnet that people download but very few of those people ever become clients, you probably have a disconnect between what you give away and what you sell.

Instead of trying to guess which format is “best”, start with your paid offer and work backwards. Ask what your ideal client needs to believe, know or do before they are ready to buy. Then create something small and focused that helps them make that shift.

The format can be a checklist, a guide, a quiz or a private podcast. The magic is in the promise, the quick win and the way it leads naturally into your next step.

The number 1 thing that will instantly improve your Facebook ad performance?

Your ad copy.

Not your budget.

Not your targeting.

Not even your creative.

It is your words.

Here’s why ad copy is the make-or-break factor most people overlook:

1. It stops the scroll: Your ideal client is scrolling fast. If your copy doesn’t speak directly to their specific desire or pain point in the first 2 seconds, they’re gone.
Generic copy = invisible ads.

2. It teaches Facebook’s algorithm WHO to find: Facebook’s AI reads your ad copy to understand who will engage with it. When your copy is specific and desire-driven, the algorithm gets smarter about putting your ad in front of people who actually want what you’re selling. Vague copy confuses the algorithm and wastes your budget on the wrong people.

3. It pre-qualifies your leads: The right copy attracts the right people and repels the wrong ones. When someone clicks because your words resonated deeply, they’re already halfway to registering, opting in or buying. That’s how you get high-converting leads for $3 or less instead of freebie seekers who ghost you.

Most coaches and course creators are spending hours tweaking their targeting settings or their budget when 10 minutes rewriting their ad copy would 10x their results.

Your copy is doing double duty: capturing human attention AND training the algorithm to find more people just like them.
