As small business owners marketing on Facebook, we are often concerned by the percentage of our likers actually seeing the posts that we make and how we can get more exposure for each post we make. But what if we look at it from the consumers point of view.
I know personally, I have liked many pages where I want to see every post they make as I am interested in the content they post. But recently, I have noticed that it has been several months since I have seen one post from them. So I visited those pages and liked a few of their recent posts to attempt to bring their posts back into my newsfeed. But this wasn’t entirely effective – Facebook was still being selective in what it showed me. Timing of their posts shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Being a social media manager, I have Facebook open for about 16 hours a day and regularly check my newsfeed.
If, like me, you want to ensure that you see ALL posts from some pages you have 3 options.
1. Notifications: Get notifications when the pages publish a new post. Hover over the liked button once you have liked a page and then select “get notifications” (as highlighted in the image below). Now whenever that page publishes a new post on their page you will receive a notification that a new post has been made.

2. All Updates: Change your settings so that you see all updates in your newsfeed. This one is my personal favourite. It is easy to activate when you like a page and it is working so far for me. Hover over the “liked” button once you have liked a page, select “Settings” and then select “All Updates”. Now you will see all updates from that page in your newsfeed.
3. Interest Lists: Create Interest Lists that categorise and show specific pages. In my opinion this isn’t as effective as the top two feataures for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it is more time consuming to add pages to an interest list. And secondly, it relies on you remembering to flick over to your interest lists on a regular basis to check them. To set up interest lists, click on “Interests” in the left hand column of your personal profile newsfeed. If you don’t see the Interests heading click on more at the bottom of the column so that Interests become visible. Then select, “Add interests”. You will see many suggestions of lists other people have set up that you can follow.
To create your own list:
- Click on “create list” at the top of the page;
- Select the pages you want to add to your list.
- Click next
- Name your list and choose the privacy setting. You can select from “Public” where anyone can see your list and subscribe to it; “Friends” where only friends can see and subscribe to your list; and “Only Me” where only you can view that list.
Once you have your interest lists set up, you then need to click on that list in the left hand column of your newsfeed to bring up all posts made by pages within that interest list. If you want the list to be more visible you can click on the edit icon beside the list name and add it to your favourites. This will move that list heading to the top of your left hand column.
If you want to have more likers on your Facebook Page see your posts then make them aware of these features and encourage them to use one of them.
I would love to know if you use any of these features and which one you prefer. Leave a comment below and let me know. And don’t forget to share this post on your Facebook page to encourage your likers to take steps to see more of your posts.
