If your ads look great on paper but your sales are not moving, you might be optimising for the wrong thing. A low cost per lead feels like a win, however it means very little if those leads never buy.

The shift is to start seeing your lead magnet and ad copy as filters. You want to call in people who recognise themselves in your message and are already close to making a decision, not anyone who wants “more free value”.

Many popular interests for targeting are no longer available, so how do you reach your ideal clients with your ads?

It comes down to your messaging and your offer.

The words you use, the title of your lead magnet and how you talk about your offer AND knowing your ideal client so well that you know their exact thoughts and the words they are using.

Make it clear in your ads and on your landing pages who your offer is for.

This does 2 things:

1️⃣ It makes it clear to Meta™ who your offer is for, making it easier for your ads to be shown to the right people.

2️⃣ When you ideal client sees your ads, they instantly know it is for them and they take action.

If you aren’t reaching your ideal clients with your ads, go back and test new messaging and text in your ad copy.

Don’t waste time adjusting your targeting settings in your ad set.

Just because a business coach or mentor advised you to Facebook™ ads to a lead magnet to fill a masterclass, doesn’t mean that it is the best option. Sometimes that extra step helps. But in most cases, I have found that when you calculate the actual cost per masterclass registration, the cost is a lot higher than running ads directly to the masterclass registration page.

The smarter way to decide is to look at intent and outcomes and the actual cost per masterclass registration. Who shows up. Who buys. What each type of lead really costs you by the time the launch is over. When you look at it that way, the path usually becomes much clearer.

That is why I always come back to price point, audience awareness and the level of touch your best buyers need. Once those pieces are clear, the “right” funnel becomes much easier to spot and scale.
