Facebook announced earlier today that a new look newsfeed is on its way and will be rolled out slowly over the coming weeks. Now I know, I can hear many of you saying “not more changes”, but I love the look of the new design and I think it will benefit everyone and create a better user experience.

Facebook have confirmed that the changes are visual only and will not affect how information is currently delivered to newsfeeds. ie.no change to the algorithm that determines how many of your page likers see your posts in their default newsfeed.
Below is a summary of what is changing and how it will affect your business marketing strategy on Facebook.
1. Larger images – Photos, news articles, maps and events will have more visibility and stand out more. The good news is, the changes give you more of an opportunity to stand out from the crowd and to engage your likers with fabulous, visually appealing images.

2. New Feeds – There will be new feed options on the right hand side of the home page. These feeds will show in chronological order. Users have the opportunity to choose feeds that consist of “all friends”, “photos”, “groups”, “following”, “games”, “music” and “most recent” or “show all”. This is giving the user more flexibility so they don’t miss seeing what they want to see.
The “following” feed allows users to view more content from the pages they have liked and the people they follow. If your likers get into the habit of clicking on their “following” feed then they are more likely to see more of your business posts as this feed is not filtered. But remember, it also depends on timing – not all your likers are going to see your posts as they don’t live on Facebook 24 hours a day. Plus drugstore online florida there is going to be more “noise” in this feed as you will be competing against all the other Pages users have liked. It will be a matter of time to see if this improves how many see your page posts but it is still vitally important to keep your posts engaging and relevant otherwise you may find more will “unlike” your page.
The “photos” feed has been compared to Instagram on the web. No text, just photos of all your friends.
3. Cover Photo – A pages cover photo will now be displayed in both organic and paid Page Like stories. These stories currently display the profile image as shown in the image below.

4. Uniform Design – Facebook will now have the same look and feel across all platforms – web, tablet and mobile.
5. Less Clutter – The newsfeed will now take up more of your screen and no more ticker on the right hand side. I must say that I have liked the ticker as I got to see more from the pages I have liked that I was missing in my newsfeed. However, it will be less distracting now that there will be the “following” feed instead. The chat box that is currently in the right bottom corner of your screen will now be in the left hand column

Overall, I am loving the look of the changes and can’t wait to check it out more. If it is possible, I may be spending even more time on Facebook.
