Cart abandonment is one of the most frustrating issues for ecommerce business owners.
An astonishing 68% of customers who make it to the checkout on your website end up leaving without purchasing.
That means that for every 10 people who add products to their shopping cart on your website, only three are likely to purchase.
There are many reasons why people abandon their carts and not proceed with a purchase. These include:
- Slow website
- Hidden Costs
- Technical issue with the process
- Concerns about payment security
- Unsure about delivery options
To reduce cart abandonments in these cases I recommend you have the following elements within the cart and checkout process on your website:
- Ensure your website loads within an acceptable time period. You can use Page Speed Insights by Google to test your website pages which will also give you suggestions on how to make improvements.
- Be upfront with all your costs. Show shipping details on your product pages.
- Have links to appropriate information pages on your cart page, including shipping details, return policy, privacy policy, terms and conditions. However it is highly important that these links open in a new browser. You don’t want people navigating away from your cart page and not returning.
- Have a live chat on your cart page so that customers can ask questions and get an immediate answer to any concerns they may have.
- Do regular checks of your website to ensure there is no technical issues. Test the entire process yourself.
- Include details of your payment security on the cart and checkout pages.
- Have multiple payment options available on your checkout page
Other reasons that customers may leave before completing the purchase can also include reasons that are beyond your control. These can include:
- Indecisiveness of the customer
- Customer is still browsing
- Comparing prices with other websites
- Browsing on a mobile device before completing purchase on desktop
- Decided not to purchase
We can’t control these aspects of our customers buying decisions, however we can take steps to increase the conversion rate after customers have abandoned the cart such as follow-up emails and retargeting.
Imagine how much you could increase your revenue each month if you could reduce your abandoned carts!!
Lets do a quick calculation. If your business currently has a monthly revenue of $15,000, that means you are losing $46,875 to abandonments (working on the statistic that 68% of customers will abandon their shopping cart).
Imagine if you could turn just 15% of your abandoned orders into sales. This would increase your monthly revenue by $4,781 and your yearly revenue by $57,375. How much of a difference would that make to your business?
How would you like to increase your business revenue by $57,000* per year just by setting up some automation in your business?
This can run almost on auto-pilot and improve your revenue without any extra work from you once the automation is all set up.
There are 3 ways that are working at the moment with the clients I am working with and if you use all 3 of them together, than the results can be truly remarkable in recovering a percentage of those sales that you had previously lost in abandoned carts.
That really is outstanding value, $59 per month to increase your monthly revenue by $4,781 per month**!!
It is a no-brainer!!
