We have seen another change this week with Facebook Pages. We now have the ability to schedule posts directly within Facebook without relying on 3rd party applications such as Hootsuite.
Personally, I think this is fabulous news. I relied on Hootsuite to schedule posts in the past so that I could scatter the timing of posts throughout the day without having to remember to do them. But there has been speculation over recent months that scheduling from applications such as Hootsuite disadvantaged your posts from achieving high levels of engagement.
Now we can schedule from Facebook up to 6 months in advance. Here is how:
1. Type up your post as normal and attach any images or links that you need.
2. Click on the small clock symbol in the bottom left of the status update box.
3. Choose the date and time that you want the post to be published. You must choose a time at least 10 minutes in advance.
4. Click on schedule.
5. Your post will then be published at the set time.
It is as easy as that.
If you want to check what posts you have scheduled or want to edit the post simply go to your Activity Log. To get to your Activity Log in the Admin Section of your page click on Edit Page>Use Activity Log. All scheduled posts will be at the top of the page.
For maximum exposure of your posts, I suggest to space your posts out by 3 to 4 hours. Statistics show that the average post has a lifetime of about 3 hours. So give one post the best exposure you can and then follow it up with another post. That way you aren’t bombarding likers newsfeeds with a lot of posts at one time and you will also catch likers when they are active on facebook at different times of the day and evening.
Have fun and let me know how you like this new feature.
