Over the past couple of months most people have reported a huge drop in the number of views they are getting on Instagram Stories. If you have noticed this and have been concerned that you reach has dropped and less people are watching, don’t be alarmed.
You views previously were likely inflated greatly by bots that were mass viewing Stories.
This was a shady tactic being used by some in an attempt to grow their following. The idea was, that profiles would use a bot to view other profile stories on their behalf, people would see who were viewing their stories and then click through to check out that profile and then follow them. A cheats way (and a fools way in my opinion) to grow their following. This is a tactic that I definitely don’t recommend as the followers that you may get through doing this aren’t going to be authentic or interested in engaging with the content you post.
This mass viewing violates Instagram’s policies and Instagram has been banning accounts that have been using these mass viewing services.
So it is highly likely that you were getting a high number of views on your Stories from automated bots and not a real person that was actually interested in your content. Now that this has been removed by Instagram you are now just seeing people viewing your Stories that are genuinely interested.
Instagram Stories are still very useful in your marketing strategy so don’t be disheartened. Keep posting your fabulous content and rest assured that people that are viewing your content are genuinely interested and more likely to engage further with you.
