If you have been following me for a while you know that I am a huge fan of WordPress for a number of reasons. These include:
- Easy and effective Search Engine Optimisation;
- Easy for the novice to update without paying a developer to make changes;
- Add extra’s via plug-ins at little too no cost;
- Easy integration with social media
- Low cost
For this post I want to concentrate on integrating your website with your social media sites.
First of all you need to ensure you are producing great content on your website that is of interest to your target market and your followers on social media. Once you have produced the content share it on social media to drive your followers to your website and encourage others to share it as well.
One great way of doing this is using wordpress plugins. I use the Digg Digg plugin which you can see on the left of this post. You can customise it and choose what social sharing buttons you offer. This makes it easy for your readers to share your content on their social profiles. This will in turn drive even more visitors to your site.
You also want to work it the other way too. If people come across your website via social media, another website or through Google because of your great SEO then you also want to be able to direct them to your social media sites so that they can follow you there.
The facebook like box that I have in the right hand column of each page on this website is great as readers can like you on facebook by simply clicking the like button without leaving your website. You don’t want to encourage people to click away from your website before they have finished reading everything. So you have kept them on your website and gained a new liker in the process.
Google+ also has a similar box that you can see in our footer at the bottom of our pages. To insert these onto your website simply find the html code on your accounts in Facebook and Google+.
You also need to have links to your profiles on other social media sites including Twitter, Pinterest and Linkedin.
I would love to hear your thoughts...
